We should never see ourselves as a zero.

I used to think I was a zero. Why? My dad told me so. He said I would never graduate High School. He told me I was nothing, a jerk, and a ZERO! However, in Our Heavenly Father's eyes we are priceless. We are told in the Good Book to be more like Him. Even St. Paul, who was once Saul was a ZERO to society. He was a cold blooded murderer who was not thought of kindly Then one day St. Paul woke up and changed his Zero life He committed his heart and soul to Our Savior Jesus Christ Today we recall St. Paul as one of the BEST apostles of all He wrote a good part of the Bible for our reading pleasure This Zero is NOW a Saint that millions revere and treasure! Now me, once a total Zero went on to be a Major in the US service. I proved my dad wrong, I earned a doctorate to make him nervous! But there is one thing that means more than anything to me. It's that my Father in Heaven and I both agree! Love cannot be seen but Jesus provides Love if we answer His call Our Lord Jesus is Truly Eternal Agape Love He died for all of us and He gave us His all. So when you feel life is a bunch of Zero's Think of how precious and valuable you are in His eyes! You may feel like a Zero today.. But with Jesus on your side that will all go away! In the end You will win! Eternal life with Him in Heaven! Amen my friend!

It certainly is sad that your father thought of you that way. I recall my father, who dropped out of high school, failed the physical to enter service in World War II, and settled for a rather high paying, but unsatisfactory career in driving truck, counseling me many times about what to do with my life. He was proud of my grades in school although they were not perfect and my athleticism, although not in his sports.

At first he told me I had to go to college. When I did, and did well, he belittled college, saying, "these days you need a college degree to drive truck," in a rather demeaning way. Still, he was proud of my accomplishments and I heard that he bragged about me to his many friends in our small town.

Sometimes a parent does not realize how much they can hurt a child by something they say. The poem reminded me of my own childhood. My dad was exceptionally smart and received numerous awards. My studies always were hard for me and I tried to do the best I could . it seemed like it was never good enough for him. After I reached adult hood and decided to go to college and became a nurse despite having 5 children, I did well and passed with flying colors. I had to prove that I could succeed and I did. Unfortunately Dad had died and he never realized what I had done. I had the satisfaction of knowing I did just as well as he did ! It made a big difference in my life. I am so happy you proved your dad WRONG! With God by your side , there is nothing you can't achieve!...M

It has been a long time since I last read any of your poems, and I must admit that I am pleased to be reading your work again. It's sad that your father referred to you as a mere zero; however, I am extremely pleased that you proved him to be wrong. In fact, you are far from being any of the things he called you. And most important of all is the fact that you have the love of Jesus Christ in your heart. That, my friend, means everything.
