Tasting the BEST of Life

Once we are served a great meal, like fine wine it's to be slowly enjoyed and not gobbled up all at once. However, in this fast-paced technological world this is not always the case.

Poem Artwork

My mom used to say, “Taste your food, what’s your hurry?”

Most of the time I did not realize I was eating like a bunny!

Eating slowly at a snail’s pace is best as we are not in a race.

So, let’s not be in a hurry to get things over and done.

For rushing through meals as with all things in life

diminishes the joy,

the pleasure,

and the FUN!

Below is a GREAT song to go along with this poem:

If one eats slower, their food is savored more. I bet you are eating in down town Punta Gorda. I've been to the same place.....M

I learned to eat slow when I was on a starvation diet while wrestling (saved a lot of money, too).

And, it is also better to slow cook a meal at home and then invite people to share in the conversation (asking everyone to shut off their cell phones). Having people go to a restaurant somewhat defeats the idea of a leisurely meal.

I'm a fast eater myself, but I taste everything I eat, and I like to eat while it's still warm. When my wife and I sit down to eat, I'm done way before her. I will start washing dishes, and I'll end up still waiting on her to finish so I can finish the dishes. We are complete opposites when it comes to consumption of food.

I really enjoyed your poem. I agree that eating ought to be a slow experience. I love good food and I love to cook, the kitchen is the hub and family members are the jewels that make it all worthwhile. Thanks for the great read, and by the way, you picked a great song to go along with it. Let's slow down and smell the food heh, be blessed xo
