It's time to speak out that, "Freedom of Speech" goes both ways. Left and Right both have RIGHTS.

We should NOT go back in time and change songs and children's nursery rhymes because they offend a few. These folks think they know better than me and you! We might take these folks seriously if they will consider how some songs greatly offend the silent majority. Take for example songs that rap about killing others, curse out loud and talk trash and crap. Let's take that garbage off the air. They greatly offend my family. But wait, that's free speech as we share the same air. So we should put up with this offensive point of view. Then allow others to change an old nursery rhyme or two. It's all about freedom of expression but we can have opposite points of view. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Yes, that's an OLD expression but it's just been Re-Newed! I AM TOTALLY AGREEING WITH YOU HERE, JOHN. EITHER WE BELIEVE IN FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR 'ALL' OR WE DON'T. THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SIN...ONE PERSON COMES SHORT ONE WAY AND SOMEONE ELSE COMES SHORT ANOTHER WAY. BUT ONE SURE IS FOR SURE, 'EACH' PERSON 'WILL BE' HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIMSELF BEFORE OUR GOD. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS NSPIRATIONS

Some good thoughts about free speech. One thing about freedom is that we can choose what we want to listen to and what we want to grow and what we want to wane.

Way back in my teenage churchgoing days I learned that the church purposely took tavern songs that were often quite rowdy and gave them new words, becoming well-known hymns because people already knew the melodies well.

I agree with you John. Freedom of speech is good when used to promote the right kind of speech. Used wrongly i believe it is venomous. No edification of whatsoever kind but downgrading to the soul. Lovely read. Thanks for sharing!

I totally agree with what you've said, John! It's a pity that how the world seems catering to some type of people, like only their opinions count. It's a shame to have to change anything that we grew up in.

I feel that in disputes like this one always has to look at the wellbeing of the most vulnerable party involved, which are in this case, I guess, the children. They might get confused with all that changing.

I agree wholeheartedly with the message in this write! Bravo! You said all that I've been thinking ever since I heard they want to take Christmas songs we all grew up with. Pity. I will sing them at the top of my lungs!!!
