God Bless My Teenage Daughter

When I was a teenager my dad used to get angry and threaten to kick me out of the house. He yelled a lot and threw a fit if I came home late. I did not want to be like my dad. Today, my daughter, Barbara Joy and I (see photo) have a great relationship.

Years ago, my teenage daughter was messing with drugs. She came home late one night. I was ready for a fight. But I paused and ask God, "What should I say?" Then I said if she would get up and walk out the door I would still be her Daddy forevermore. I said, "I don't like what you are doing but remember this, I am here for you and I will always love you." She hugged me like a little girl and started to cry. Then she went to bed and NEVER stayed out late again. TRUE STORY! Amen John Michael Domino 1/28/19

SO YOU SEE, BECAUSE OF WHAT GOD 'ALLOWED' YOU TO GO THROUGH WITH YOUR FATHER, YOU WERE ABLE TO DEAL WITH YOUR TEENAGER IN A WISE WAY - NOT MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE OF TURNING AWAY FROM HER OR HURTING WITH HARSH WORDS AND ACTIONS. I think that daughters are the hardest for fathers to let go of when it comes to growing up. But then, I do recall my father allowing my sister to get married at 17 without a fight. But then, he married my mother at 17. No drugs or pregnancy were involved. My sister was just in love and tired of an overbearing mother and grandmother in the house, and feeling sorry for the neighbor boy (she is still married to) who had recently lost his mother.

I think you are lucky that your daughter saw the light as soon as you revealed it to her.
