I remember what I should had forgotten and forgot what I should remember...
Lord, I was running but not looking
when entering uninvited in Your House,
searching for refuge
through the open doors
from a furious storming rain,
but Lord, I didn't disturbed anybody,
the church was empty to my surprise.
All the candles were unlighted
letting shadows to engulf the altar,
Your Son in the cross was still waiting
to redeem a soul;
or for anyone
remembering He was there;
but the church was empty, and so was I.
The row of benches were so many,
a silent wooden army of rank and file;
wondering if the echoes were still
there,where so many people one day sat;
and the emptiness made me think,
my Lord...why they went away?
and, are they ever coming back?
I will confess that I felt ashamed when
hurrying by Your empty church I go by,
after all,
the doors are invitingly open; but...
I needed a storm to push me inside,
and if everybody my Lord, is like me...
Your empty church is no surprise.

GOD DOESN'T MIND WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES BROUGHT US THERE...HE IS JUST HAPPY WHEN WE GO THERE...FOR WHATEVER REASON. AND PLEASE CONSIDER SOMETHING, 'THE CHURCH', A PLACE WHERE THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD IS, IS A MARVELOUS THING AND THOUGH THE ONE YOU SPEAK OF IS TANGIBLE...IT CAN ALSO BE INTANGIBLE...IT CAN AND DOES RESIDE IN US AND WE CAN GO THERE WHENEVER WE FEEL A NEED TO...FOR WHATEVER REASON.

Sometimes we need the LOrd to KICK us in the rear..to have us accept his offer of love and everlasting life. I enjoyed this Georg and my mind thinks of the many times I too...walked on by the church.
Through the lines of "The rain... and the Lord" -- an ontological thought is expressed in poetic grand, and a spiritual disposition for re-birth in FAITH is depicted.
I have enjoyed the reading of "The rain... and the Lord".

To me this is sad a church empty........ As is the soul that was forced in by a storm so many times People in times of complete emtyness and paind with no hope come to the church. For me this was well written but i do not look for God within a building. I see him now as a living God all around thanks to the sacrifice Jesus made for our salvation. He spoke to a woman in scripture at the well that she neither would worship on the mountain or in the city temple but from inside where living waters would well up.....You captured a church hollow perhaps religion. Faith is my testement of Christ Jesus. Wonderful work on this one.
