I been reading about broken hearts, falling out of love, dear John words and a sudden departure, and it make me think, what if we all had got it all wrong, what if the heart is just a bird?
My heart is like a bird
that couldn't fly,
but in utterly silence
posed on a tree branch...
was ready, willing, hopeful
looking at the sky.
My heart is like a bird
that couldn't fly,
wishing love would come
in a secret mystic cloud
delivering a wing so it could
fly away one more time.
My heart is like a bird
that couldn't fly,
hope was not enough,
but one could try
to soar over the tree tops
instead of falling down.
My heart is like a bird
that couldn't fly,
sitting in a tre branch
with a broken wing,
in utterly silence and
hopefully looking at the sky.
Some birds may fall out of trees when attempting their first flight. Some fly into windows when they cannot see clearly. Some birds will break a wing and never recover, while some will fall prey to predators. I believe every bird will at sometime possess a happy memory of basking in the sunshine, bathing in a park, meditating on a statue, joining the flock in flight, building a nest with their mate or some kind of joyous occasion that only a bird could experience. On the other hand, some that appear to be birds are not really birds at all. They're just rats with wings. I guess our hearts could be birds! Thanks for invoking feeling - HB
what a thought provoking write my friend...as a bird must learn to fly again once his healing is complete, we too must learn to trust, love, and believe again...when our healing is complete. A beautiful comparison...enjoyed this much!

A heart is very much like a bird with a broken wing. All it instinctively knows is that it must fly again when it has healed. It knows it must rest for the wing to heal strong enough to continue it's journey. This bird already knows. Breaks happen. Healing happens. Love happens. Sometimes a good gust of heavenly wind is provided. Good thoughts about love. Lady J

Nice work on this poem, George, it is the thoughts of love that keep many from flying as they wish, the broken hearts sitting and hoping in silence as they search within dreams for their chance at love...
