Dedicated to a very good friend which I expect will forgive the use of the picture of his eyes as illustration for this poem.
Those eyes are saying what wouldn't have place in a thousand books.

Poem Artwork

Among a myriad of people around
I found, a colleague maybe you say,
the one that writes on his papers
words not from a inspired poet,
but with those belonging to a friend;
all the written poem words you read
and never once you lift your head
to look into those intense sad eyes
that are telling more than the foresaid,
of a man that have walked deserts
where sands were human indifference,
where children looking for a mother
were lost, no paths on an empty place;
I will call he my friend because
I have seen that kind of very sad eyes
inside a life mirror with broken images
which you can’t delete, just agonize;
ask, and ask again for him to tell
the truth about a journey that brutalize
the soul into thousand small pieces,
a zombie's jigsaw that’s dehumanized;
then, like Phoenix, the fire bird,
that from all the ruin’s ashes raises
the poet, shaking the universal time,
take his quill and paper, become alive!
but if you lift your head and look well…
you will see sad eyes, on Larry’s face.

This poem is very beautiful, and I believe my words can not really convey how surprised I am. In another time I would see you as a guardian, such as Merlin or Socrates. There are pieces of myself in the poems and stories that I write, pieces that maybe are unfinished; waiting for the right information. Yet I know that as I read other authors here, perhaps I too will learn a certain lesson that I was searching for. I do feel emotion,very deeply; but I also can look deeper. Beyond the here and now to what is truth. That is I believe God guides us in all we do. Thank you

I truly hope Larry finds comfort in your wonderful tribute to him. You are a good friend to him to write about him so expressively.

While I know nothing of his past, I really enjoy the beauty of his poetry.

Blessings,
Kathy

I only know of the Larry here on the den. I don't feel sadness from him, I do feel intensity and someone who is wise beyond his years. I love Larry's sad eyes, he has lived a full and learned life.
Very wonderful tribute here, So what do you see in my eyes, sir Georg?
Peace, Love, and Light,

I do believe the eyes are the windows to the soul. The viewer must develope the faculty to look past the window panes. And this faculty does not come easily.

Beautifully penned, Georg! I love your use of the Phoenix as a poet-image, for that is surely true. We find that poets - the real ones who wage war with their pens - are much like the Phoenix (having arisen in blazing fire from the ashes of a life which tried to kill everything they held dear). And - when we momentarily dare to look into the visage of the Phoenix - we will see those sad eyes of Larry, or William, or Georg ...

Well done, Poet!

moving with the quill of a bard
to distinguish the sad from, is hard
but your friends eyes do say it all...

"...ask, and ask again for him to tell"
is the only way to rid him from his hell. . .

Excellent Georg~ your pen is moving!
Love and Peace~
