Ms. Karla the Storm Spinner ask me to see into her eyes and tell...
This poem is dedicated to a courageous woman, a Veteran, a friend and also, why not!...a sister.

Poem Artwork

Inside her eyes she wished
what I see to know…

The poet was asked, tell me the truth and
I looked trying to find traces of a storm,
but in that peaceful face I couldn’t find,
no fury, no lightning or a maelstrom;
just a pensive woman patiently waiting
carrying inside, in peace, a pensive soul;
no tears there, in those squinting eyes,
the ones that mattered had fell much before,
now her kerchief is only getting wet when
she dry the tears of others suffering more.

The man was asked, to tell the truth about
looking into those eyes and what he saw,
seeing eyes that were almost questioning
he saw her looking far away and beyond,
to where rain fells on fertile, waiting earth,
a place for tenderness and even for love,
where children can break in all sweet smiles
like they were part of a great rainbow,
no sickness, or greed, not even selfishness,
hate has no place in that Karla’s world.

The friend was asked, “tell me the truth,
what you see in my eyes when you look?”
and I looked expecting to see devastation
after a life shaken by so many a storm
but the only I could see inside her eyes
was the hiding smile of a tender soul,
and the stretched hand, firm, as it should
the stretched hand of whom a friend you call;
so, dear friend, that is all I can see, because,
to tell you a lie…I do know if I could.

Inside her eyes she wished
what I see to know…

You have looked into her eyes, and seen her soul.

I think each of us would like to know what others see when they look into our eyes. We might be truly surprised.

I've seen Karla's soul through her writings, and am inspired by her.

With love,
Kathy
