A little Cahpel's bell (revisited)

Around our land many a little chapel are experiencing a renaissance because the economical crunch suddenly reminded the people that God was still there, and they came to pray for help.

Poem Artwork

From a chapel calling to Sunday's prayer,
a refuge to souls that needs redemption,
summoning all believers...and the others,
the bell sounds like a wailing ghost.

Tiers after tiers with faces full of guilt,
expecting forgiveness for unfaithful thoughts,
yet, wanting something for their prayers
and never feeling the pain nailed on the cross.

There is the bell, the old tower's heart,
like a captive thunder inside the bronze,
giving, of shattering silences, a song...
to the angels, that never heard such a voice.

But at night, when all the shadows come,
where the sounds of that bell go?
Perhaps it keep on ringing and we don't hear
when she's calling in another world.

From a chapel's old tower, calling,
the bell is wailing like a ghost.

A very beautiful poem. I would love to hear that "little Chapel bell" It is interesting, like after 9/11, people in trouble discover that they really do believe, and they know that God is the answer. I like George Carroll's comment, God is waiting with open arms. Connie

I love the intimate feel of a small chapel, the aroma of burning incense, and the call of its bell. Your poem and picture tease my memory. An exceptionally, well stated poem, Georg! Thank you!

Very old English type poem , Georg, I felt like I was in another century. You write that way to transport the reader to another era.
Nicely written..

Awakening my thoughts
Of the last time I heard
My church bells tolling

The bells keep ringing and only few worshipers attend the church, with those from far away places coming first while those who live close to the church are far away from God.

As an Agnostic I do not need a church to worship in but I don't object to people who need and organized structure to say their prayers. I do think it is sad that so much money is spent to keep up, heat, air conditioning etc of these monstrosities that they call cathederals...

I find people all of a sudden remembering God because of bad times to be a kind of contradiction, I mean they don't remember Him when times are good, so why should He listen, if he is, when times are bad...e

Powerfully penned, Georg, sad when times are bad, God is suddenly good. And when times are good, Who's God? We forget to thank Him for every blessing, in prosperous times and not. Well done, my friend, thanks for this (needed) reminder.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

this is a really intriguing photo
lost souls lingering cry...
in all our prayers for help, it is so important to give our gracious sincere thanks
for in all the blessings we recieve they can be taken away when we fail to see or lose sight of our appreciations

Me thinks far to much noise going up there disturbing all the Angels, more deep silent prayers needed, willing to give God something, instead always asking hm? Jasmin Horst

Hello Georg,

The little chapel's bell takes a life of its own as "caller" for people needing God's Presence, some so numbed with pain and loss, unable to feel anything in the deluge of today's worries and problems. A great story and a wonderful poem.

It takes problems sometimes for us to seek out God who we have hidden somewhere until we need Him. But better late than never to ask for forgiveness and repent this is the season of Lent to change our lives. God is waiting with open arms.
