2009, Enlightenment Age? Bull cookies! Man has taken a measure of himself that only man can see it not as a mirage, a wish, a wannabe pipe dream.
From the dark ages to now man climbed the arduous side of the mountain with sweat, blood and tears...when he decided not to climb anymore because he was already at the zenith?
When he decided he was greater than God?
Gangantuan shadows in the soul of the guilty,
no excuse will be validated by the mighty God
as man will present himself as the poor victim
and not as the sinner man, in front of his Lord,
what he will say to Him, destroying His creation
his all he did and his final judgment heres now,
“the Devil make me do it” will be lame excuse,
and on the Final Day excuses wouldn’t be worth
sudden prayers from an hypocritical being that
thought of himself better than his mighty God.
In the scope of the great Universe out there,
man is a little funny thing walking around,
nobody can see him looking from the moon
and yet, he thinks of himself greater than God,
you should have seen he be so proud when
rubbing two wood sticks together making fire
he thought of man made an all mighty magic
without needing the intervention from the skies,
because he was the one that make things happen
so he was solely him the one to be admire!
Man’s backpack is full of those Deadly Sins,
like Sloth, Wrath, Envy and everlasting Pride,
forget not Lust, Gluttony and unending Greed
which make not for a résumé of his short life
with no place in there for Heavenly Virtues
like Faith, Hope, Charity, and Justice allied
with Fortitude, Temperance and Prudence,
that could have made he better in God’s eyes,
but no, man seems to think that he knows best,
even when his mirrors, all of it, just denies.
INHERITED 'WEAKNESSES' STEMMING ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE GARDEN OF EDEN...IT IS SO EASY TO DO WRONG YET, EXTREMELY HARD TO DO RIGHT. THANK GOD FOR HIS MARVELOUS MERCY AND GRACE THAT TAKES MAN'S MISERIES AND FAILURES...AND TURNS THEM INTO VICTORIES AND WINNINGS. CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF OUR CREATOR WE ARE SADDLED WITH, WHAT APPEARS TO MANY TO BE, THE 'IMPOSSIBLE' TASK OF REACHING OUR ETERNAL REWARD. Excellent write here on a topic which one might call a hot potato. No one wants to hold it for long. I read a powerful little book about 10 years ago called What Would Jesus Do? I ask myself that question often when confronted with a choice. Keeps me out of trouble quite a bit. Big hug Georg, J'nia

Those mirrors are cracking and breaking and mankind perhaps is getting a good look at what we have become. The time is now to get back to the word of God....
Wow! You sure put us on the "hot-seat"...mind you, Georg, that's where we should be if we don't change our ways. Few of us just might make those needed changes and teach others to live im God's Grace; we must all try. Great message, friend!

A deep, philosophical write my friend. We always have an excuse for our actions. If we would only think as we live life, "is this pleasing to God?" our sins would be less. In the end we are accountable.
Georg you are quite a philosopher, your mind is as deep as your heart. It's so odd, man is far below God, yet elevated to be created in His image and his most beloved creation. Charged with being the caretakers of creation, man has messed up big time.
Your title says it all: when man thinks they're above God, that they ARE God, that's when they've failed. God hasn't gone anyplace: He's still there, watching man make an utter fool of of themselves as they destroy His creation and each other. One of these days, one good ZOT will take care of them. =] Sooner than we think: Come, Lord Jesus. An excellent, thought provoking pen, Georg, well done!

Too many don't care for this one He made, all HIS handywork we destroy because we are so smart, we think, so greedy, etc, we don't respect what HE made, and who HE is. We forget HE is the total of all things, we destroy ourselves with not acknowledging that, but most of all, we destroy ourselves being ungrateful, we cheapen even the gift of HIS SON, for we sin first, and hoping remorse will follow, the ultimate blasphemy mocking GOD. I can see you looking into the looking glass, and seeing it very well, without pride, remembering not the invention of the ultimate spy machine, but the one who made the glass. Our failure is looking only to see what is outside of us, we need to invent a spyglass to look inside of us, as you have done, but you are like Noah, He shouted into the wilderness too before the flood. This flood might not come from the rain of the heavens for the rainbow, but well up from underneath our feed, it will be a whale of a tale, and for certain tears will not fail.
