A Kiss Worth 30 Silver Coins

Are we still dispensing those kisses? whatever happened to love thy neighbor? be kind to lesser creatures and help the fallen?
We are distancing ourselves more and more from the poor like they were lepers, from the sick like they were deadly contagious, as we are offering the other cheek for a 30 silver coins kiss from the ones rich with fool's gold!

Poem Artwork

Cracking ice, the world is going as cold
as the heart of many a unremorseful man
that walk the streets of those in need, like
a bad news knock on their doors by midnight.

Silence descend over crumbling tombstones
man-winter voice is a call from ominous owl,
telling the Reaper that it soon will be over
as hunger soon will be claiming another one.

Snow covered a row of trees like naked monks
their deformed shadows given by a sick light
which was trying to shroud with weak darkness
their sparkling disrobed shame wrapped in ice.

No beggars to confront the hard freezing winds,
a bag-lady that keep on moving, pushing her cart,
to get some warmth to old bones that can’t stop
because if they do, she will close her eyes and die.

Winter has come to the cement jungle, disoriented,
shell shocked, a ghost that will come and go, fast,
no bullet can reach him because he cheated dead
as he was cheated on his decorated return by his land.

Bridges weren’t build to cross over troubled waters,
but to give the homeless a sense of a roof, a house,
in the company of some stray creature on four legs
that never asked for anything but a little hug of love.

Two thousand years ago a kiss was paid with silver,
thirty coins that the Romans gave to the kissing man,
and we still doing it, believe me, and if you don’t…
give them a chance, open your eyes and look around.

Cracking ice, the world is going as cold
as the heart of many a unremorseful man,
for silver coins today, if you kiss a stone,
it will be the only one…that would cry.

Yes most of the world is cold now Georg but not all of it if we refuse to grow cold our selves. Thought provoking and well penned.

Too true are your words and it tears me apart to think that one can turn their backs so easily. Thank you Georg, maybe others could learn to love their neighbors again from their heart.

Bridges weren’t build to cross over troubled waters,
but to give the homeless a sense of a roof, a house,

a whole homily could be spoken and preached on just these two lines, Georg. We betray our humanity the more we reveal our inhumanity. Achingly poignant message. xx

The montage and duality of mankind and manunkind.
When the media starts headlining good-news then I'll really worry.
As its hyperbolises bad news.

I like very much the meaning and deep sentiments that you share via your verses here, Georg. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

The only one I truly feel sorry for, is the man, the man of love and
God, who gave his life to make a difference, nearly to a hundred percent of us, never deserved him, and as in your most true courages write, most of us never will, though some at their very end think, of whispering, forgive lord for I have sinned, will all get them to sit beside him. I am afraid those thirty shekels won't work up there where He is now, no need stuff them in our coffins, or our wills, but better maybe in the back pocket of that homeless being, dogie, or the least among us. An inspiring powerful write Georg, it packs a real punch, with silver edged letters!!!!! Hugs! Jasmin Horst

Apathy, Georg, one for one and none for none. Love thy neighbor? Those days gone with the dinosaurs ... sad. Heartbreaking truths in these lines, very well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

What they forget: it could happen to them, and then what? Who is going to be there for them?

Superb heart touching words that make me cry for the days when neighbors were neighbors and not strangers living side by side. These words can relate to the present state of the decay of our wonderful country and the distrust between beat down humanity. Excellent writing, Georg, excellent.

this write Georg comes hOme to me
in a way I see even clearer why I prefer
the calm quietude of mother nature
the rat race is where I don't fit in at all
But surely to give a physical kiss on the physical
face cheek (not the rear one persay)
would be so much more rewarding to have the coins (& the touch of kiss)
than the way we do now through our hard earned dollar...
You are so deep always...a Master

We've seemed to have forgotten the Golden Rule, as commanded in the Holy Bible: "Love thy neighbor". Sad! Then people wonder what's wrong with the world. Shame!! Powerfully penned sadness in this, Georg; well done! Love the piccy!

Yes Georg, We do have to open our eyes and see what we are seeing! It is a damn shame that humankind has evolved to this type of society. Proud? Not at all.
Be it that the weak shall roam the Earth, Be it that the rich shall pay in the end!

Peace, love, and light,

Truer words never spoken
will eyes now be opened?
The blind will stay as
those that hunger,
will still search the trash cans for morsels unspoiled
depending still on the mercy of others
The homeless cold, rather die in the elements
than be robbed or murdered in what society calls shelters
controlled my terrorizing gangs
of also homeless heartless souls
Peace be with you Brother Georg

Captivating write my friend that says sooo much about today's world and so called society. Men and women struggling just to put food on a table while billions spent just in advertising for a war that nobody really wants. Sad but true write and you do it perfectly.
