Looking at fighting, with self and others. The barks bites beefs of solitary self-talk…
Stray thoughts are my companions while I walk;
dogging, circling back, tracking my review
of views I dare to vent when I’m with you;
what the shouts drown out so it’s all cross-talk.
I plod a hounds' play: I tackle, they block;
entangle, they tow; I kick, they won’t shoo;
they snarl and we’re a team I attend to!
Should I be surprised? I bludgeoned; you balk.
Thanks to my mind's guides (like dogs to the blind),
the blunders, blurted awry, I regret.
Saying “I’m sorry” I pray will correct.
Forgive me! I punish myself in kind—
My beasts bite me but my bark is no threat:
I struggle to be someone you’ll respect.
Lovely to see you back Helg.
You know what I'm going to say don't you? I would love to see where those stray thoughts lead you if you did not insist on chaining them to the gates of formal poetry.
This is no dog, its a bird and needs to fly.
love
Ian
