Longer Poem from Sophomore year... actually I think this is the first poem I ever wrote... hmm...

The frozen wastes recede
The snow melts
The sun shines
The time of life has returned

After the Phoenix in spring
Returns life to the land
Warming and rejoicing
With the splendor of the “Firebird Suite”

Spring ends as the rebirth completes
The flora live
The hibernators awaken
Summer is here for all to enjoy

The orchards are attacked
By manic painters of life
The white and pink
Of apple and cherry blossoms

Birds are splashing in a stream
Its water sparkling
Like a child’s laughter
As it returns from the mountains

The green canopy of trees
Dappling the water with light
Granting peace to the woods
With crystalline purity

The bats at darkness
Gliding and swooping
Through the blue-black dusk
Soaring through the warm summer air

Fish swimming through the river
Like the lazily contented thoughts drifting through my head
The current swirling
As my mind meanders through dimensions

I look out the window
Dazzled by the emerald green of nature
Soothed by the blue of the sky
Watching the clouds drift

I look eye-to-eye with the sun
It’s warming rays comforting me
Born as a child of spring,
I bathe in the magnificence of summer.
