Loved the second stanza: "spindly are their vehicles... agile and wasplike wing" (sorry if I've not got this right - had to relogin in the meantime!!) Very acute and descriptive - onomatopaeic as well - (spellin's gone too!) Makes my fragile mind spin just to think about it! And the SMELL! The Indy 500 is as much an American staple as apple pie, Ron. I think we all dream about what it must be like to drive one of those amazing machines. Excellent poem, I really enjoyed the read. Your images are excellent, I could hear the cars whizzing past me.
