A poem inspired by a motel name. How the morning dew drops in like an old friend to share its wealth.

Poem Artwork

Dew Drop Inn

The Dew Drop Inn clings by the sea,
on a craggy cliff of mystery.

Whether tis there, whether tis not,
is not a subject for this spot.

For she is shielded by the mist,
seen by some, but not by this.

She drops in, on thirsty plants,
on the furry, hair of ants.

On parched desert's dunes of sand,
all the creatures far inland.

She adds color to the pale,
shields against the Sun's hot hale.

So, do drop in if you have the chance,
bring your jokes, your song, your dance.

For you are always welcome,
at the Dew Drop Inn.

Like the gift of water,
you dew me in.

So, fog on through, your whetting dew
Play in the mist, of dancing, leu
my darling. . . Dew Drop Inn!
Condense what thinks, in altered water...
H2O dissipates... hot air falters
Foggy settings, done, I'm in!
Reserved in reservation, at the Dew Drop Inn!

Inspiring...
Love and Peace~

I like the rhythm of this poem. "Do drop in to The Dew Drop Inn" is a metaphor for a mystical imagination location where jokes, song and dance are appreciated--a misty, foggy mirage where one can escape from the harsh reality of life--a refuge. It's light hearted and fun.

Your Nature poetry is cool! Touching & clever at the same time... But when I saw the title to this, somehow all I could think of was those pleasant (to me at the time) Walton re-runs I used to watch with my late mom in the 1980's. We both loved "Jason" at the piano in the "Dew-drop Inn" (reminded me of my early days at the piano)
PS: hope Gustave doesn't bend left too much or you may be in trouble (not sure where you live exactly - NE Texas somewhere?)

A beautiful write, loved this. I recall that the little bar on the program The Waltons was called the Dew Drop Inn...Hmm hadn't thought about that in a while. Enjoyed your write...the imagery is wonderful. Loved the picture too. Something intriguing about a spider's web! The dew clings to the webs like diamonds in the morning sun...well done!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
