We all are creative in our own way, but it takes dedication, determination and drive to bring it to the point of recognition and second nature.

 Creativity

If creativity is your proclivity,
then why dawdle about?

Get your foot out of your rear,
and stop playing down and out.

Daylight is burning in the midday sun,
and you haven't figured out how to have fun?

Don't walk… get out and run!

For life's a box of chocolate cherries,
and we can cherry pick what we want.

We don't have to hand write well anymore,
just pick out a beautiful font.

We can color it myriad to make glorious art,
we just have to pick from a rainbow chart.

Draw with your finger, draw with your tongue,
a glance of your eye, or a thought on the run.

A new world of creation is at your command,
app yourself up, and create a new land.

Where you can be happy, and fear no more,
cast out the ghosts, breathe like never before.

The world is your oyster, don't get stuck on the shoals,
get yourself going and establish some goals.

"We are all creative," a fine poet once wrote,
so wake up and get up, cross over that moat.

"Those who aren't busy living, are busy dying."
The poet of the 20th century sang.

Ring in the new century with your bell rang.

A great message for all who try to CREATE. Some times it does take drive and determination to get things done and in doing so, we leave a little bit of ourselves behind. I some small way, we have left our mark and perhaps someone in the future will read our writing!....M

I agree wholeheartedly with your message and carefully crafted words. I'm sure that we are all our own worst critics and terrible self-censors and it takes a real leap of faith to hit the post button.

Much better creative than destructive! Everyone has talents but not everyone has the courage to put them to use. M.True

To paint with words. That is the only creativity I ever possessed. Sometimes I'm not sure if that is truly creative and artful, or that I'm kidding myself with my bullshit. Still I keep trying it. Maybe someday I'll be really good. I like your poem here Ron. No matter what the medium, just go out and do. The rest takes care of itself. Bob

Creativity has no boundaries. You either have the talent, or your don't. I love your creativity.

Writings of a poet can reflect his/her inner self. Your poem reflects a healthy happy heart and soul. It is so good to read your poetry, because they flow so well and so colorful like a painter painting on a colorful painting on the kaleidoscope of life.

Your poems are so UNLIKE some others unhappy poets who are constantly dwelling on some negativity and something unpleasant that would only drag the readers down to their own darkness within their hearts and souls.

I prefer to read yours anytime.

Indeed. And lest we forget, consensus is that until one has logged in at least 10,000 hrs of creative practice, labeling oneself an artist is negligible, even more so if one is but a narcissistic hack to begin with.

Great call to action piece, Ron-and very true:Each of us has some creative genius in us,and when it is found and shared(used) this world is going to be a better residence for all.
Thanks for sharing,and continued success.

I really enjoyed this poem. It makes perfect sense to me. You can choose to lay down OR get busy living. I believe life is about taking chances. I am a portrait artist and discovered my talent accidentally, but thank God I tried. Creativity is born in every soul. If you don't use it you lose it. Great poem Mr. Hull.

Lots of wisdom there, Ron. My only quibble is that this old man's diminished eyesight would have preferred a type color with more contrast.

If you don't use it you lose it no matter what it is. We are all born with talents in some area. We must use those talents no matter what!

Love ya!

Funny you bring up dying at the end of this, I have taken three nitro pills within the last two hours. Seems to have done the trick, but I guess I'll have to see about this in the near future.

Yep. Creativity has been made easy for us, but still, if you ain't got the "feel" you ain't got doodley-squat. I sometimes get very creative, more often I get doodley-squat, pretty fonts, etc. or not.
