We all can feel the pace of change accelerating. Whether or not that is good or evil is yet to be determined. As a whole for everyone on the Earth, change has made people, overall, better off, healthier and live longer. Whether that can be continued is always a question.

Winds of Change

The winds of change tear at my edifice door,

strange new changes never heard of before.

Keeping house in order a much greater chore.

Starting to wish change would come no more.

But the fickle wind of change cannot stop.

Its invention is the engine climbing to the top.

Some change is good, other change is bad,

later to find out, the best change ever had.

For those who are aging and losing their grip,

the strong winds of change begin to rip.

They may complain or grumble of their fate,

or simply give up believing it's too late.

How ever the winds of change affect us,

they will continue to howl without any fuss.

for it is only because we make them real,

their head strong winds, we begin to feel.

One of my favorite topics, wind. I like so many lines in here: “strange new changes never heard of before,” great concept with tremendous relatability. Also, “Starting to wish change would come no more.” And you morphed that line nicely with “later to find out, the best change ever had.” Good one, Ron. ~~ djl

Thanks for this poem Ron, change is inevitable. We must Learn to grow old gracefully and face whatever may come my way. It’s all about our life. Nothing stays the same, enjoy the winds of change!

Captures the tension between resistance and acceptance when faced with life’s inevitable changes.
The imagery of wind really works powerfully right through - the unpredictability and relentlessness of nature.

Yikes ageing and losing grip, how darn poignant. Indeed, it is how one responds, brill’ reflections on life’s changes.

Indeed, you touch on one of the hallmarks of the human condition and of nature itself, change, change, change, nothing seems to stay the same. The sun rises and sets, but it is always rising and setting, always changing, as do we. Personally, I like change and would w4ant to have it any other way. That's what I always loved about travel: change. Every day, always on the move, home being where I happen to be.

Interesting message in poetry form. Yes, far too many have or will buy into the cliche of being "crusty" or "cantankerous" just because they think that's the normal thing to do with aging. Some of us are just the opposite. Life just gets better when one can call upon their past as lessons in mortality's gift... life... and often find the later years are the best years in these winds of change. Good write.
