Written for the lovely, bright older half-sister of my granddaughter who lit a fire in the bathroom at school.

Fire in the girl’s bathroom Inferno in the little girl’s heart Mamma left her high and dry They were once so very close At the young ages of 4, 5 and 6 She took care of mom and hugged her when she cried At 7 and 8, like it or not It was she who took care of little sister Once turned away, and happy to be out She deeply felt her mothers blame But her hand made valentines spoke the truth “Mom, where are you, I love you so much” Nothing in her young and tender heart Helps her to fathom what she did or didn’t do That made mom choose a life without her She really had tried to be so very good

Ues, kids think grownup stupidity is their fault. Well said, and a good reminder to keep our nonsense to ourselves in front of kids, if we can.

Sad but real write of a childs struggle with the dejection of a mother, could there be anything short of child abuse than this pain she must have felt. Great capture and delivery.

Sounds like this little girl is dealing with some 'inner fire'. Good 'analysis' type of poem.
