Some dreams we sacrifice

To enable fruition of another

As time takes it toll on some lofty dreams

Perhaps we tend to amend them

And what becomes of those dreams?

And those souls who dared to dream them?

And to all the work, the sweat, and the many tears

Were they too all for naught? No, not for naught!

For as dreams are amended, sacrificed or re-defined

The dreamer becomes wiser

Knowing when to amend, sacrifice and re-define

Not only the dreams but themselves as well

But never does the dreamer cease to dream

The picture is beautiful. It would make a great oil painting. To those who stop dreaming.....darkness. To those who always dream....rainbows of color
Thank you fro a wonderful poem.

Countless...this thought, of dreams and the urge to create from dreams is one that gives us the journeys of life...whether they become reality or are lost within the sacrifice to create....there will always be more, and bigger dreams to create...Countless...

nice work, Karen.....

Thank you for you captured this thought so well, as only a fellow dreamer could. To explain to someone with limited powers of imagination and dream dust is like explaining gravity, we know it works but how many of us know how.

Beautiful poem with wisdom message. Without dreams we are barren of thought! Love the pic too, Karen!

I think that we walk on our dreams... in the nicest possible way. Our dreams make light our feet, restore our vision and set our sights. They are the energy for the journey and often the map and compass we travel by... at least in our heart. Even if seemingly without fruition, they have travelled us a certain distance further along our life's road for certain sure. Great thought-provoking write, Karen, thank you. Kate xx

Dreams are what will make life worth living, even if we have to sacrifice or amend these dreams. Very prophetic!
