Do not love carelessly

Be sure its what you want

For once ties are established

Responsibility is forever yours

For body, mind and spirit

Food and water at times as well

In exchange for their reciprocal gifts

When a friendship is established

A new pet chosen or the trust of a child is earned

We musn't toss the jewel of them aside

Forgetting their tender souls

For once in turn they love us too

Their hurt when forgotten will linger on

And leave them empty inside

Remember you have had those

Who gave their all to you

Your heroes or comfort at times

A teacher, a coach, dogs and kitties

Aunts, uncles and grandparents too

Friends, who stood by you all gave hope

That this world was a good place to be
