Everybody Lies

Everybody lies, probably this is true ,

And I am sure that in truth,

There are no truly selfless acts,

For the giver receives in the giving.

But I refuse to be a cynic,

For there is so much good in this world,

Every day a new beginning,

In the setting of the morning moon;

A sunrise, or a kaleidoscope of grey in a cloudy sky.

Lies...I don't deal well with them. I do believe that most people are good at heart though...

I love your last stanza. Superbly done. I love the imagery of the setting of the morning moon... I love that sight!

I'm often bashed at and critized for speaking my mind which I think is the truth on how I feel about certain things. If you need an honest opinion about something, I am the person that you would come to, I will tell you like it is, even if it hurts your feelings; and to this I must say that I sometimes make more enemies than friends. A lot of people don't like me for my blunt honesty.

So I wish I could be more of a tactful person to play politics in a lieful sort of way, but that is not me. I rather say what I mean even if it means that I will have some enemies who don't like my honest feelings. That doesn't hurt me one bit if people I know can't handle the truths then what do I need friends like that for.

I don't want to have to go about kissing everyone's ass, and pat everyone's shoulders. This is not me, and I don't like doing that.

So what if I have made some enemies, and some people don't like me to be honest, I'm not a babysitter, people are not babies, they should be able to learn the truths and deal with the truths.

There are lies and then there are LIES. Sometimes we lie to keep from hurting someone's feelings. Sometimes we lie for the opposite reason. I believe it is ok to omit the truth if you can spare someone's feelings. But a horse is still a horse no matter what the color....Well done Karen.

You are so right, I too believe everybody lies to a degree whether it is just to answer that you are fine when someone asks how you feel. I too believe that there is still a lot of good in this world and even the environmentalists etc should try and keep that in mind for with each new child born there is also a new seed of hope for tomorrow.

Hello Karen,

I agree with Georg, not everybody lies. I know of two people who do not, whatever you do to them. Great style, so free!

Unfortunately we keep electing politicians who lie to us with a smile.

Nice work Karen...truth is an emotion that glides along the expressions of the mind waiting to overcome the reality of lies...and yet even within truth and lies there is the undeniable reality of life and all it reveals to us within the Moon, the Sun, and even a cloudy sky...

nice...

You are so right. Many do lie for what ever reason. I think its part of being human. I also believe there is a lot of good in this world. One only has to open their eyes and hearts to see it all. Great poem......M
