Waiting like a Perfect Lady
She was finally going to see him,
It had been such a long time,
And even though they had written,
(Him more than she),
For he had more empty hours on his hands.
He had gotten himself into trouble,
Too big a problem for a simple ‘time out’,
He had been locked away for a while,
She hoped he was working things out.
So this long awaited day had arrived,
She bathed in bubbles and washed her hair,
In strawberry scented shampoo.
She dressed in a lovely dress of blue,
To match her eyes and his.
She was so excited she could barely sit still,
But she sat and waited like a perfect lady,
Her legs were crossed and still,
Her hands folded sweetly in her lap.
Then he arrived with his hands held wide,
In wild abandon she jumped up to greet her daddy,
She ran with arms flailing, and leaped into his arms,
Her body wriggling in giggles of joy.
I hope he knows how much love is held in that soul,
And how choosing drugs over life,
Sends such a sad message, of self doubt,
And questions of why she’s not good enough,
To keep him being her daddy,
Instead of an addict to something,
She cannot possibly comprehend.

I've been lax in commenting on your latest poems, please forgive me. My life has been very hectic of late. Knowing the story behind this poem made it brought tears of happiness. He's a well man now, you can tell by the gleam in his eyes.
Fondly,
Marcia
Hoping for the best for them.
