Love and shame

This poem is a sad poem about the fragility of our human psyche and the struggle to preserve our goodness

When your greatest hope is love,
your deepest yearning defeats you,
how do you share the lonely burden,
is it possible to shed this glue.

I lust for love lost,
I cry for dreams bust,
I spin for the fantasies,
that simply turn to dust.

For the love of my lust,
had no substance at all,
the rain and the thunder,
only evidence of the storm.

Undo the past is impossible,
ride the tyranny of shame,
when all is done and dusted,
I am all there is to blame.

Mommy can you tell me why you lied,
what were the thoughts you had inside,
Daddy, why did you let me go,
where was I supposed to go.

All these maddening woes untold,
the many secrets I still hold,
the tossing and turning in the night,
nothing seems to make it right.

Ride the tide of chivalry,
pace the bleeding heart,
lance a festering wound,
chance another start.

For the pain of yesterday,
may always leave its sign,
apathy can kill your peace,
hatred brings the devil to dine.

One last thought to leave you,
a hope for better days,
for the journey may be treaturous,
but we can always change our ways.
