Solitude

A poem describing the inability to discover your roots.

 A solitary wharf 

with pilings gone

sinks into the ocean.


So leave eternity

to stone, children's blood, and salt.


Mortals drown

returning to the sea

without a cord-

or the wordless act

of a wave,

a mother,

or a boat...
