She was my guiding light in times of darkness,

My rock when I was devoid of strength,

Wisdom when I had no clue what to do.

Understanding when I performed the unexpected

Encouragement when fear reared its ugly head.

I miss the sound of her laughter,

And the love that poured from her lips

with each word she spoke.

She lived a life full of God's unconditional love.

An angel, my angel, here on earth. 

I miss the touch of her still baby-soft skin

That 94 years on this earth did not weather

I miss asking her what she needed

Because I certainly needed her caring words

To guide me, lift me, and carry me through my day.

It has been a little while now

Since she has gone to meet the Creator,

The One who allowed me to have her in my life

And Who allowed her to nurture me

To become the person you see now.

I feel bittersweet sorrow

Knowing she is free and no longer in pain

And is reunited with God, as she is so entitled.

The memories of her make me smile,

but the pain I feel is everlasting.

My tears flow and my heart aches

Because I can no longer see her face.

Just know that when all is said and done

She was, is, and will forever be

My Heart's Song.
