This expresses the strength - and fragility - of true love.

GLASS HEART

As I lay here
Reliving our last few moments together
Yet again,
I remember the gentle caress of your hand
within mine,
The sweetness of your lips
As they brushed ever so tenderly
Against my cheek…
The strength of your arms
Wrapped so protectively around my body,
Pulling me close and feeling so safe
Tears welled up in my eyes
Because that was where I’d wanted to be
For so long…
But that was the very moment
We were saying, “Good-Bye”.

As I lay here
Thinking about all our past conversations
I realize how much I let you in
Not only into my world
But into the depths of my mind,
The core of my soul,
Bound to the fabric of my very essence.
You know all there is to know about me
And it shows every time you read me as if
I were last week’s best-selling novel.
That is what I love and need in my life…
And you have trusted me enough to let me in
To your world, and I know enough to say
We both own glass hearts that are so fragile,
To shatter or break just one
Would destroy us both.

As I lay here
Thinking about what the future may hold
In store,
I know the past with you has brought me comfort,
Guidance and knowledge beyond my understanding;
My children joy and structure, knowing
Someone not only cared for me
But truly for them as well.
How can you be such an important part of their life
When their own father is so close
Yet they look for him not?
Calling you Daddy
When they have never seen your face in person?
When they include your sons as brothers?
What an incredible bond our friendship has formed
From idle conversations
To global proportions.

As I lay here
Wanting your body
And craving your touch
More and more with each passing day
Is why I would never let another touch me
Because all of me not only wants you
But needs you.
The day I laid eyes on you is the day
I told God that you were the desire of my heart
And asked Him to help me do His will
And be obedient to His Word
So that He would one day allow me
To have you.
All I can say to you is this…
I willingly offer you my
Glass Heart…

Will you take it?

There is a sense of brooding in this that I can well relate to. I like the vulnerability and hopefulness that you end the piece on. Welcome back sis! peace to you.

This is absolutely tender and heart warming..Be very careful who you give your heart to. It is bound to that person for eternity.

Lovely poetry.

Peace, love and light,
Amber
