Poem Artwork

All the long night west winds roar

boom icy shrapnel on the shores:

cannonballs fly, bounce, roll, clatter

ice on ice crunch, bash, shatter.

Curled green walls of glassy jade

smash on pack ice wave on wave

tremble out high icy plumes

fans of white peacock

collapse, resume.

Waves slap hands, gleeful high fives

slam dance back—twist, leap, dive.

Hard daggers dazzle caves of ice—

a crevice opens then

closes like a vice.

Wind waves ice in wild dance.

Lake Michigan ice packs

on a spree.

Angels dressed in red and green

walk the shores

on days like these.

The imagery that you provide makes me feel like I am there. A cup of chocolate, my husband, a delightful walk and life coundn't get any better.

God bless you. Kathy

You capture the frozen heart of Lake Michigan in winter in engaging, rhyming lines: well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, and Happy New Year, Karla.

Being from Ohio originally, the title drew me in. Glad I stopped in. :)
