           Mystical Powers....

Do you recall tales a long, long time ago,
when the earth was young and pristine?
Majestic mountains in all their glory,
while rivers flowed in abundance, clean.

Days of old when Merlin lived,
and mystical powers ruled this land.
Enchanted forests, mystifying seas,
and grand creatures born in the sand.

Hard working folks from everywhere,
cultivated the soil, farmed the land.
Oh, but at night, in the dead of night,
minds free, dreams flourished grand.

Where, oh where, has it all gone,
when the imagination could run free.
Unicorns, Pegasus, and Centaur,
as far as they eye could see.

Gentle maidens seemingly in distress,
awaiting their knights in armor shining.
Of dragons spewing breaths of fire,
which could melt the metal lining.

Giant birds that ruled the skies,
half man, half beast hidden from sight.
All the hopes and dreams of many a mind,
now cower under a golden moon's light.

Of Camelot and Brigadoon,
captivating, motivating the imagination.
Of myths, folk lore and legends,
trying to make sense of the integration.

Where did it all go? When did it leave?
When did we so willingly give up our right?
To allow our minds to sparkle and shine,
to indulge in dreams until morning's light.

Do you recall tales a long, long time ago,
when the earth was young and pristine?
Majestic mountains in all their glory,
while rivers flowed in abundance, clean.

It is sad, Karen. I think about this al0t, actually. I mean what if Earth is a sentient being? I'll bet she is, as she obeyed a word and was made-- that takes intelligence now, doesn't it? Couldn't hurt if we all did our part to make her pristine again (and still live comfortably in her).

Have a wonderful "Oh, da-doo-da-day!" --Charlie

Karen as I sat back read this a second time I couldn't help but detect a note of sadness and perhaps dissappointment between the lines but I think there is still hope for this world and for mankind as long as their are dreamers, poets and kind loving people in this world such as you...

Did we forget to dream of realities yonder, did we tear that curtain of mistery with cold hard science, do we know too much, or less than ever. The cold hard facts, now bare, the seven veils all lifted? The imagination stale old, so many questions you raised, in such beautiful embroidery of poetic words, one of your best Karen.

Nostalgic, haunting and lyrical, Karen, setting just the right tone for your wonderings. Time (or, more acurately, the lack of it!) is largely responsible, I fear, for the gobbling up of your fondly remembered tales and mythologies...ironic since they are themselves timepieces! If we don't remember where we've come from, we don't know who we are and we DEFINITELY have not a clue where we're headed... except for you, of course! HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE! :)) XX

I didn't know it left. My neighbor is the epitome of a fire breathing dragon for sure. And I know she throws evil thoughts at me, or is that me? Oh, oh. Wonderful write about the wonder of creativity. And where it has and can take us. Love it. Liz
