The eloquence of beauty glides
On sunlit paths alongside
A flourishing garden
With scents divine
Where I  sit and sip
A vintage wine
Pondering
Life's trips
My daily slips
Need for relationships
Or catatonic friendships
That only survive with quips
Loves that speak with lying lips
Understanding
A short fuse
In a culture full of abuse
The world intention to confuse
The need to escape all the refuse
It's tiresome dealing with the obtuse
Makes much more sense being a recluse

Must be a spring-thing, a recluse sounds tempting, for now, but won't be long and we'll miss all that surrounds us. A wonderful poem.

Eileen,

Oh, this is powerful! Very poignant write; well expressed! You are in my prayers, sunshine!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Daddy improving, slow, but steady. Thanks for all the prayers! :)

This rests my case as well, that is why I am so reclusive...you have captured the feelings of hiding from the world perfectly...Ed

Ah Eileen, I understand all to well, what a powerful and heart-wrenching poem, all too true, loved how you expressed this,

Seems that the world and us in it have forgotten how to live, except by politically-correct soundbites. Shame. We need instant gratification, never giving relationships a chance because we're goneeeeeee at the first sign of disagreement. I'll say it again . . . Shame.

I seem to think along those lines more and more these days, Tiger Lily.

There is no harm in being a recluse in today's selfless and lovelorn world, in fact most of us live within our own bubble, cocooned from the pains and anguishes of the outside world !
I would rather be alone, than be in the company of vexatious persons !
You are in my thoughts and prayers

the sentiments of many a poet ... to be surrounded by themselves is their only solace ...

Eileen,

Hiding from the world's problems isn't going to change anything; we need to step out in faith and do what we can to effect a shift to compassion and love. If no one listens, so what--you did what you could. :) A powerful, emotive write, very well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

No!!!..being a recluse you lose so much of you creative side. Best to be out there...quiet if you like but taking it all in. You're a poet...look at the world and then get back to us what you see in your prose.

Sometimes it does feel that way Eileen, especially when the walls seem like they are tumbling down upon us and everything we once thought to be our strength evaporates into thin air. It is best at times like these to pull ourselves into the here and now and deal only with the situation that exists at this moment and not draw from our fears and sadnesses of the past; save those things for days when we feel strong and can use the power of the sun to burn them away. I find that a bit of Tai Chi helps me to find my center and to elevate my spirit when the gravity of the past tries to grab onto today. Very compelling yet sad poem, Eileen.
Take care,
Sherry
