Thank you Micke for this amazing pic! This is the sunset at the North Pole with the moon at its closest point. And, you also see the sun below the moon.

Poem Artwork

The light of day was waning
My heart was feeling cold
With the darkness gaining
Loves story still untold

Lest I be caught in twilight
Forever and a day
I must find ways to requite
The light that goes astray

So hungry is the corner dark
That does not get the beam
It yearns to see at least a spark
But sun witholds it's gleam

Then dark descends to cover all
Light hasn't got a chance
Til at some point the two must meet
To do a mating dance

When dance is over comes the fight
Will stygian have its way
Or will the force field of the light
Be strong enough to sway

Soon  time comes to illuminate
It appears clear and bright
Yet still in corners adumbrate
A shadow of the  night

Just when we think night has its way
Alas the light  begins its day

A wonderful weaving of light and dark. For some reason--maybe gravity--the moon has more influence over mating. This one's a sleeper.

Which reminds me my next will be even stiffer. And I wouldn't stiff ya.

Balance is everything. The non stop cycle of life is between the dark and the light. You have a fabulous comprehension of that and this writing proves it beyond a doubt.

Soon time comes to illuminate
It appears clear and bright
Yet still in corners adumbrate
A shadow of the night .... Indeed. :)

The absolute ying and yang here on earth is the darkness and the light. One cannot exist without the other, yet they must yeild to one another, neither having the power to completely overtake and rule the sky; they have had to agree to forever share that space. The beauty of their dance of give and take makes for my two favorite times of day...sunrise and sunset. Fabulous poem, Eileen.
Take care,
Sherry

I love the delicate balance and proximity of the Light and Dark..
A microcosm of the much wider eternal battle between Good and Bad...
Your muse is soaring to new levels, and that photo leaves me speechless...

Absolutely gorgeous write, Eileen! Savin' this one. Love the balance of light and dark in a dance. A great analogy of life this is and it ends with HOPE. Brava! (I snatched a copy of that incredible pic. Can you find out who the photographer is?)Applause, applause...

Some kind of writing you have ammassed within the confines of THIS little ditty, Eileen. I'm liking your, oh I don't know if it is new, poetry, but somehow you seemed to brush the words with a little stiffer literary brush and I like the hell out of that. Excellent point here about the neverending light. Just when things look the darkest . . .
