Poem Artwork

He looked up at the night sky
Saw the stars and wondered why
And of these wonders he did write
For poets have the second sight

Her love had left she  now was free
Couldn't help getting lost  in reverie
And of these memories she did write
For poets don't get much sleep at night

Sometimes  poets lose sight of the days
That tend to go by in a haphazard haze
For their  minds are always on rhyme
Meter and verse make them forget time

He looked at the empty bed missing her form
Thinking of the quarrel that caused a storm
Of these woeful happenings he had to write
For poets can't help but  share their plight

It is one of the ways  society learns to cope
Laying out the drama of life is what gives hope
Of all sages and poets that have gone before us
Let us give thanks to them and the poets mighty forces

etw~

Eileen, nice write, truly enjoyed. The picture reminded me of a small village across the water from Ketchikan, Alaska.

Eileen, so true of us writers...we have to capture the thoughts of our minds before they zip away into eternity. Yes, sometimes we do get lost in our writings and lose so much time, but think what we have given to others to absorb & enjoy. This is a great thought provoking writing & I enjoyed it to the hilt.

I did sleep fairly early last night but woke up at 4 to sit down here
on the other hand,
Some times when writing I look at the clock and it's 3:30a
and say dam there goes breakfast...
very well said ET a nail on the head kinda thing

One writes because it's in him/her. And it seems that when something bad happens, one must write more. It's a form of release. Victor

Their thoughts and don't get much sleep because
