Poem Artwork

I pondered  summers end and felt I had
found my niche twixt now and autumn

For in between all things I seem to fend
Never to be in one place all in all

Always coming or going never staying
Always hither and yonder never "there"

I wonder does that make of me a gypsy
My mothers family are part Magyar

Always wanting to go someplace, yet never
There when I am, my mind in other realms

It's more than just being a dreamer,it is
Seeking that one place that says"this is it"

I have yet to find the place that says it to me
And having lived in more places than the norm

I'm questioning others as to their thoughts on
the topic...Are you where you want to be?

Or is it simply what St Augustine said, to Creator
"Thou hast created us for Thyself, and our heart is restless til it rests in Thee."

Methinks the last is what humanity yearns for
Yet declines to take the steps to acknowledge it...

When we have the luxury of the time to think, we get restless. I say, see and do all you can, for God's heaven will be a bland and boring place.

Great pen here. I too at this age wonder if I'll ever find a real home. I have moved on an average every couple of years. I want to find a spot to call home yet still want to roam all over...not much to ask for. Great write and great picture. Lady J

I like this restlessness. It lets us explore as much of living as possbile. Although I never thought of how it helps us to be in two places at once. That is kind of a cool thought. ~ Sara

Wow, I stand and applaud this poem Eilene!!! "Thou hast created us for Thyself, and our heart is restless til it rests in Thee. Maybe we feel misplaced until the trip in this life is done. Or maybe it's not knowing what it is we are supposed to do here. I perfer the first. Either way, this poem hit me square in the gut!

compassion to this piece, being of nomad heart myself, yet knowing not my own brothers who are completely rooted and satisfied being so, perhaps it is not DNA but the self and soul which finds satisfaction within the nomatic exploration of sacred places...for the creator exists where ever I am and i do not sense seeking or searching, but moreso personal experience and witness to its wonder

Roam wherever the heart takes you for wherever you are, there God is. That is all you have to acknowledge, for God can be adored anywhere and your heart will or rather must rest in Him. Fine poem, Eileen. Victor

My body is often where I want to be, but my mind is usually zipping all around the galaxy, chasing God knows who, and looking for answers to God knows what. But it's always nice when I can get them together for awhile.

The writings of the English Quakers are very helpful in understanding this same question, "Where I Want To Be." To accomplish any kind of creativity, one must direct themselves to orientation of higher spiritual lands far away from freeway signs...I have cultivated the spirit of contentment you see in this picture...I live this same scene in reality every day here in the high Colorado mountains where the life of the mind and the arts reach higher than anywhere, where I have established peace and harmony...one has to have consciousness of all distractions and wrong movements for higher spiritual living...you'll find that place soon, Eileen...

Sage
