First of all I should say this has nothing to do with my marrage as my husband and I are very happily married , but I was thinking of others in the world and how they feel and deal with problems. It’s a shame when our world comes tumbling down and often it is when we don’t expect it. So many times it isn’t because the love has died but because one feels they can’t provide what they once did, the love and excitement that once existed. Often it is because of finance and the partner feels someone else can provide better. When the light has turned to grey, there is always a way to brighten life up.

When the light has turned grey

As I lay resting on my bed alone,
I watch and wonder, when you’ll be home.
I feel a tear gently dampen my face,
As I feel my heart beat in a race.
I’m upset, and I can’t understand,
Why you’d ask me to get another man.

For far too long you’ve been my life,
I tried so hard to be a loving wife.
I remember when you’d hold me tight,
And kiss me all through the night,
You loved me more then words could say,
Forever more it would be this way .

You always whispered in my ear,
I love you , it’s for you I only care.
Sweetheart look me in the eye,
And see the tears you’ve made me cry,
I can’t believe the words you say,
You don’t love me, you’ve gone astray.

My life now is empty, dark and dull,
can’t see the light of day,
But soon the dark clouds will open,
And again I will find my way.
Someone will come along you’ll see,
And give love unconditionally.

No more tears will stray away,
When the light has turned to grey,
For I one day will love for true ,
When I have long forgotten you.
So take your life and walk away,
So I can start my life today.

The memories of long ago, and feelings that ache from such an experience are written with empathy and love. I did start a new life with a wonderful husband and am blessed to have had them [both] in my life.

Sad truism in this write. You've expressed what so many people feel; they are at the end of their ropes and don't know whether to hang on or just let go.....

Such sad words, so painfully true for so many. I'm so grateful that I found the love of my life after a twenty + year marriage that was was 'grey' in every way. I only hope that Ed and I can keep the romance and passion alive through the years to come. Thankfully, even after nearly three years, we love one another as much if not more than we did in the beginning and we've faced many challenges and yet grown closer through them. That is a real blessing.
Bless you Rose and bless your beautiful poetry.

This is so very well written. The emotions expressed the inner turmoil that most feel when their life is in an upheaval. Those that truely love each other will stay together through thick and thin. No one ever said life was easy. I have been up and down so many times that I have gotten used to the roller coaster, just part of life....

Be safe,
Karen

Alas today few prepare themselves for marriage. That is why it fails, but not always for that reason. Life is to complex to categorize. Victor

Although it is true that as someone suggested below, most people these days do go through at least one failed marraige (sad fact) but there are a lot who when they marry a second time do so after first insuring that they are in love and want to settle with this person definately. Money, power, assets and desire can all eventually pale in comparison to real love which can conquor all obstacles as long as both parties believe in their love. Hugs

A sad look at what marriages have come to these days. It's said there are only a minority still married, but most divorce over & over again. Holly

When the light has turned to grey, there is always a way to brighten life up.

There truly is, if only we are willing to look for the light once more.

My what a very touching write. It is all too often that when a couple splits - even after being very happy - that one or the other confuses the relationship being over with their world ending. This is not as it is, and anyone who has gone through this, knows that the sun still continues to shine - even though we may think that it will be raining forever. A very poignant write about a love lost and a life gained. Well done, I expected no less of you, Rose. Love ya.

Oh Rose, no I can't believe you are alone. I shall send you some healing energy. Breathe, and yes you must mourn this, if this is what to be. My heart goes out to you, I have been in your shoes once. And believe me, once is enough!

Peace, Love, and Light to you dear friend,
