Don't be too quick to judge another as some illnesses can't be seen by the eyes or felt by the touch of a hand but hiden deep within the heart where no one thinks to look. Depression is one of those that suck our way of life out of us one day at a time and unless someone notices and reaches out where will life go.
I happen to know of several who just need to know you are there to help them one day at a time, because together anything is possible.

On The Outside Looking in
July 09.2010
By Rose Marie Rideout

You say..Please don’t ask you not to cry,
It is because I love you I have to try.
You say..Oh yes there’s a reason why,
Tell me, I need to understand the reasons, so please try.
You say..I don’t know what you are feeling,
But I have my share of pain in life too.
You say..I don’t know how much you hurt,

Well no one really knows, that’s true .
You say..You the wet spots are from tears you cry,
Just let me help and all your tears I’ll dry.
You say..Others think you should go on with life
Well I much say I do agree.
You say..You can’t forget about it,
I say with help you can be so strong.
You say..You are sad and don’t want to go along,
I’m here to tell you, dear one you are so wrong.
You say..You don’t think we really understand you,
But honey guess what, your Mommy was there too.
You say..For no reason you just break down and cry,
Theres always a reason, you don’t want to think about why.
You say..Your life has changed forever,
Life can only be the way you make it dear.
You say..This is your life from now on,
I’m here to tell you, you are deffinetly wrong.
You say..Others feel as though nothings happened,
That’s only their point of view.
You say..Your life has changed forever,
Only you can change each day for you.
You say..You’ll never be the same,
Life alone will do that to us all.
You say.. all the tommorrows and yesterdays will be the same,
Only if you chose that way, you have much more to gain.
You say..You ask that I be always there to help you through life,
I’ll be there for whatever you chose to be a lover or a wife.
You say..You are happy I am more then a friend,
You know I’ll always love you till the end.
You say..Your broken heart is hurting bad,
Until you start to mend it, It can’t be other then sad.
You say.. You think it will never mend,
I am here to tell you, all will work out in the end.

I can appreciate this one, Rose. I'm at the same point myself of late saying each day, "Why not today, Lord; why not now?"
Well told my friend. God bless.

Only those who have lived with depression either in their own lifes or in the lifes of those they love can truly understand the magnitude of the illness, and make no mistake it is an illness. It is not always curable but it is manageable with the help of counseling and support. You captured the feelings that often accompany depression and give a good example to the rest of us on what we can do by reaching out to help and show others we care.

These words, Rose, are intended or written for one you love, maybe your child or a dear young friend. Sometimes all we can do is simply "be there." So often people, especially young people truly believe that it is only they that feels the loneliness or mental pain. But, as humans, we have all been there and, though possibly kept down, many of us are still "there."

A deeply meaningful write, Rose; and your theme hits "very close to home" for me. Thank you for sharing your encouraging words. Love and best wishes,

Rose,

Depression is just so hard to understand. I have several people very close to me and it's hard to know what to say or do. This is a well written piece concerning this strange malady.

Depression is nasty. I know; I suffer from it sometimes, but I try not to let it rule my life. I have so much to be thankful for, and there are so many people who have it far worse than I ever will! Thank you for this gentle reminder, Rose; vey well penned!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
