What Makes Us So Different

I was taught from a very early age that we were all made in the image of God, so I guess I grew up believing we were pretty close to perfect. Then as I began to reach adulthood, I saw something isn't right in the world. I thrive on trying to make others happy, I have always felt that if I can do for others then I should. We are all suppose to be one big happy family, yes it is normal to have our disagreements but hate isn't a word that was to be used in our home. What a disappointment we must be to our Father who has been there for us all through life. What makes us so different? There's no room to be prejudice in our world. Life is so short, we all breathe the same air and the same blood runs through our veins.

What Makes Us So Different

I took a look in the mirror to see,
What was different about you and me.
I had two eyes, each had a tear,
I couldn't stop because I care.
I had two ears to listen to,
The reply for the words,  "I love you".
I saw my lips, they curled in pain,
The hurt you said will always remain.

I listened close, and found my heart,
The place I know all love should start.
My two arms stretched out to hold you,
Something done today by so few.
I had two legs so I could walk away,
But my heart had chosen here to stay.
It hurt as I heard you shout at me,
Stay away, you aren't the same you see.

What makes us so different,
I couldn't  fully understand.
Is it because I am a woman,
I can plainly see you're a man.
Look closer, what is it you see,
There's nothing different there to me.
Look at our colour, that's not the same,
You speak different, that can't remain.

That's on the outside, he heard me shout,
That's not what love is all about.
Listen closely to your heart,
That's where love should always start.
Lets stop the fight that's going on,
We're all God's kids, that can't be wrong.
Lets face the world and make them see,
We're all the same, now set hate free.

Great write sis, in this world there is no room for prejudice and the thought of it makes me sick and sorry for the sick individuals who suffer with it.

Love you

A wise write my friend...heartwarming and touching! Enjoyed this very much...yes, we are made in His image, we are all born into this world clean and sin free...we were made to serve Him, all of us are God's children! Enjoyed this very much!
Blessings,

Love is about love - nothing more, nothing less!
It has taken me many years to learn to respond with a positive thought rather than a negative one. People are more responsive to positive feedback [notice I didn't say criticism].
I,personally, don't use "hate" I replace it with "intense dislike" - less volatile.
Your poem loving points us in a forward direction > > >

Bravo Rose! We should all take heed to your words and try to replace the mean spirited actions that are replacing the love Creator wants us to live by! It is becoming more mean each day...Thank you !

Love,
Eileen

Beautiful thoughts Rose. Unfortunately we can only guard our own hearts against hate and have no control over the hatred in others.

If only we all lived by this - what a better world we would be in. Its our attitudes that should set us apart, not our color, creed or religion. Great write, Mom.

A desire to understand and accept the difference between people is the mark of humility knowing that a far greater power than us created these very differences. Sadly...children do not know predjudice it is only as they grow and learn from those around them that hate begins. You captured this subject excellantly Rose.

You know, it was quite clever of you to write about racism in a rhyming format. It is easier for some folks to read. I have always sadi and maintained the same as you. We breathe, we eat, we love, we touch, we live, we die. WE. That would mean all colors all religions all everything. Why then goes a four letter word control people? Great poem.
