Let me share with you a story,
That I have kept deep in my heart,
I don’t really know what to say,
From the beginning I will start. Many, many years ago,
In a place not far from here,
I fell in love with a gentleman
Who said he’d always care.
This tall dark and handsome fellow,
Smooth talker, dressed in quiet a style,
He undressed me with his eyes,
Thought he’d be around for a while.
He stole my heart and left me,
For another I have found,
Used me to fulfill all his desires,
Then tossed me to the ground.
I couldn’t see it coming,
Closed my eyes and walked away,
Continued to accept all excuses,
His lies throughout each day.
It only hurt me for a little while,
I grew stronger everyday,
I’ve learned to ignore the gentlemen,
With disrobing eyes who look my way.
This is one thing that I had instilled in me and instill in mine -- take your time with any relationship, not to be always second guessing people, but sometimes you have to. Thanks for sharing.
I really like this poem. Many have had this experience in their lives--swept away by a nice looking sweet talker. But we learn from this.... and warn others to be careful. :)
Excellent message in this wonderful poem Rose! methinks all women have met men like this,and men too on the distaff side have met similar women. The hope is to find out before we give them our hearts.
Often we only see what we want to see at the time and then when we do open our eyes and no that we were wrong the hurt is like a scalding burn that needs to heal. I have known women who played games with men's hearts as well but...I have to ask myself, did I not welcome it in my own way. Great Write dear Cuz and yea some are smooth talkers on both sides of the gender pool...
