I believe that many who drive vehicles with 4-wheel drive believe that they are invincible. I, too, prefer the safety of my home. Glad you made it home safely.

I can imagine all the agonizing you must have gone through. I used to leave my car parked, be it garage, driveway or along the curb and would take the bus or train instead, especially to work. You are so right that too many do not take heed when driving in snow and that I always found scarey. Fantastic write....

Yes sis I can understand your concern, thank God I don't drive, and wouldn't in the heavy snow we have been having. There are certainly a lot of drivers out there that don't value their lives or the lives of others and drive like they have no fear until its too late. But at least you made it home safe thank God. Beautiful write sis.

Well done Rose. As for myself, I love driving in the snow. Every turn is a new adventure. You're right though; there are too many fools out there who shouldn't even have a license let alone be driving in a snow storm. Stay safe and warm my friend.

Phew... makes ME breathe a sigh of relief, Rose, at any rate. I live in a valley with very, VERY steep hills and on two or three occasions I have nearly slithered either into a wall or over a steeply shelving edge when a sudden blizzard has blown up out of nowhere. Makes me reach for the brandy... :)) Kate xx

Isn't it the greatest relief when you get home! I recall driving in all kinds of snow and ice back in Illinois,main reason I moved to California!Great poem Rose!

Well done dear cuz. NO one should drive a vehicle when they do not feel comfortable to be driving...whether it is because of weather, health...or just stress the cost for the mistake you could make is far too high and the cost of a taxi is pretty cheap when you think what the alternative cost could be. Glad you shared that with us Rose.

I used to love to drive in the snow it offered me a challenge but not so today. Time marches on but I stay at home and watch it pass by.

Rose, I understand your angst about driving in bad snow (damn, I sound like a therapist there, don't I?) anyhoo...keeping things in perspective, we have two little towns in Cascade Mountain Range, here in Oregon that were literally buried in with drifts of 10' and more. Makes me glad I live on the coast where the worse we get is high wind.

gosh I agree driving is crazy enough without the snow,,,I loved the good old days when there was rush hour ,,,now it seems like sooo much traffic all day long. Stay snuggled in.

Ah dear Rose, you sound so much like my husband. He is not keen to drive in this weather -- and the forecast looks like snow for the next few days. I don't mind driving in the snow at all. I always say - I got my nerves from going to Acadia in the Annapolis Valley, NS for so many years. When I was living down there in the winter, if you wanted to go out - well, you just HAD to drive. Thanks for the write and I am glad that you got home safely.

Boy, I can relate to this. People here in Texas can't drive anyway, even in dry weather; always hearing of accidents every morning on the news! What makes you think they can drive in snow or on ice?? Sheezamighty!! This is one reason why I don't drive here; too many dangfool nuts on the roads!! Excellent write, Rose; brava!

We don't get this problem anymore. But I hate it too.

Las time I drove from a short visit in Norway back home to Sweden, there were many eighteen wheelers, stationwagons, cars, vans and even a bus down in the ditches both sides in a 350 miles run.
When snow start to fall, heavy, stop and overnight in a motel with a warm cup of cocoa and watch reruns, that's better than freezing the jebezes out there!!!!!!!!!

Shoot, you ain't seen bad drivers unless you come to Texas! They get a half inch, OMG! They're all over the road, in ditches, off bridges ... they can't drive in clear weather, what makes them think they can in inclement??? No, thank you, I'll walk!! LOL Glad you made it home. :) Excellent write.
