There is too much saddness within the hearts of far too many. Life is too short and people don't realize how quick it is passing them by. We have all seen the years flying by so we must thrive to make the best of every waken moment. I knew what it was like to do without for far too many years but I like to think it made me a much stronger person as no matter how bad my worst day was I knew someone out there in this world of ours knew what it was like to be really cold and hungry with no money, no shelter and No one to turn to. Count your many blessings. I have.

So Many In This World Of Ours

I watch you from the distance,
at your lost and lonely daze,
Wishing you could be happy,
With a reassuring gaze.

I see that you are surrounded,
With a very beautiful home,
While so many in this world of ours,
Are shedding tears alone.

Whats that you had for dinner,
Sure smells great to me,
While so many in this world of ours,
Are starving can't you see.

Why carry that look so gloom,
When a smile you can easily share,
When there are many  in our world,
Who need someone to care.

You like to listen to music,
Or watch a movie on TV,
When so many in this world of ours,
Live without those  luxuries.

So smile and hold your head up high,
Be thankful for all you have,
Look into the faces of so many others,
Understand why they are sad.

A very good poetical expression of not taking life for granted and counting your blessings versus that which you think you lack. We truly are blessed. Thanks for sharing. Deborah

Excellent poem! We often take the things we have for granted. Some can find happiness in small common ordinary things , some don't appreciate what they have and always want more.. Sharing , giving thanks and helping others goes a long way....M

Beautiful Words To Help Appreciate Rose!
There is always someone out there whom has it worse than what we may struggle with, and even homelessness could be just a payday away, tragically things happen & starvation...oh that is a terrible terrible thing....

Rose, many times as I look into the eyes of a homeless person, I feel such pain for them and want so bad to be able to help them out in some way. I wonder what caused them to end up on the streets. Is it mental? Dependence? Uneducated? What could cause a person to end up in this situation? I smile and say a pleasant hello and ask if I can buy them something to eat and tell them where they can stay for awhile. When I leave, I feel sad & hurt that I could not do more for them. A homeless person haunts me on an almost daily basis. This is a write that many will remember.

We must all reach for the less fortunate in some way,,, what we get back is so much more. Moving words Rose. I sponsor a little girl in Africa,,,it is just a very small way to help. :)

Poignant and heart-touching, Rose. I feel a knife whenever I witness such sadness, even on our own streets. I just truly do not understand world economics or global politics. This is just wrong when 90% of us have so much... correction, the so-called "First World" probably controls 90% of the world's wealth. My comfortable lifestyle comes with a cost that is just too high. TY for this. Kate xx

Had to make a trip to courthouse in center city Harrisburg this morning. Two sets of homeless passed by with their shopping carts with all their belonging. One an old women, so sad looking, just like in your photo, and the others were two men traveling today. They had a big club, guess to keep theirselves safe from others out there on street. It was a sad shocking site to see them walking about in the daytime with their things in carts and not shaved, and very hairy and dirty looking. Where do they get their food?

Rose,

People forget - many are blessed beyond measure, they've just become inured to it - they've come to expect it - and with the economy as shaky as it is - it's only going to get worse, I'm afraid - God have mercy - excellent write -

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Wonderful write Rose and I agree with it in point but then again with the prices skyrocketing, incomes for pensioners lose ground with each passing day. Sometimes choices must be made between pills, food, utilities etc and the pressures eventually start to weigh heavy on people. A nice home is just that nice but can be lost in the blink of an eye when health reasons stop the flow of income. A lifetime of working for a living isn't worth squat when you can't make your payments on what you have. Yes there are always people worst off than ourselves but that often isn't enough to make us forget or ignore our own problems and wear a fake smile just to please others. Some days are diamonds...some days are crap...lol
