Reach Out Your Hand

I remember when we had four little children at home and times were rough, there were too many times we didn't know where the next meal was coming from but someway, somehow we managed. That was thirty years ago and we never forget. Today life has really changed and I look at those who are in need of even the little things in life as little as a smile or a kind word and it breaks my heart. Even then my husband would remind me of how lucky we were to be blessed with shelter, warmth and love. Compared to others we were even rich back then.

Reach Out Your Hand

Who’s that man, you just walked by,
Tell me, could you have really helped,
He sure looked like someone familiar,
Was it our Saviour above, Himself.
Who Knows?

 Sitting here alone just thinking,
About sickness and of health,
Of all the things that we do wrong,
In ways that we could really help.

Reach out a hand to someone,
Yes anyone at all,
Offer to read or walk with them,
Hold them so they won’t fall.

Sit with them in lonely hours,
Cry with them or smile,
Give what time you have to share,
With each woman, man or child.

Ah yes you see them everywhere,
In shelters or on a corner all alone,
Just looking for someone to care,
So they don’t feel they’re left alone.

People often forgotten,
By their loved ones, once a family,
Just tossed aside like garbage,
By ones like you and me.

No more tears left to cry,
No reason for a smile or a dream,
As we look into their saddened face,
We hear their cry of scream.

Just take the time to smile,
Say good morning as you pass them by,
Show them that one person truly cares,
Wipe their tears when they cry.

P.S. Even our neighbors, Reach out.. as I did after 8yrs of living beside her. Her husband just passed on last weekend, R.I.P. Eric - and I found out she likes Scrabble and Gardening as much as I - we share often NOW when we are watering our gardens! I even shared a plant with her and gave her warm caring hugs the day Eric passed on, I went to the door to leave flowers /sentim. card and she walked out with a her watering can in hand - I was like" Elanor I didn't want to bother you and she kinda' grinned and we hugged) It was meant to be, and I walked slowly around the short fence and was quite! We shared a lot and tears fell - Anyway - she knows to come over anytime!
I thought I'd share that with ya'- I bet it brightened your day Rose1 :) Have a Wonderful Happy Night!

Reach out a hand to someone,
Yes anyone at all

If we all practiced this, the world truly would become a much better place, for everyone.

We need more of this thought...the kindness to just reach out and smile...it is so sad that a world can become so egistic that the poor and misfortunate are left without a simple helping hand...yes we need to be more...compassioante...

The ability to look beyond our own troubles and worries is one that takes a lot of insight into the human condition. When things are going right we can so easily reach out and offer our help and our hearts to others who need us. When things are going all wrong it is not so easy to disentangle our daily lifes. I think it is just somthing we all need to do our best and that is all we can do.

Rose, you have so beautifully expressed Jesus' message to us today. He calls us to less judging and more helping. I'm glad I could read this on July 4th.

Rose,

Beautiful reminder to reach out to others - who knows when the tables will be turned? We could be them, someday (sooner than many think, especially with the economy like it is). And when it does, we only pray no one will be apathetic - well done, Rose -

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
