Close Your Eyes & Gently Rest

I sit all alone at the computer just thinking,
About words, songs that I have written,
Do they really matter to others,
Do people read between the lines,
Do they know of your life,
The past, present and the future to come.
Do they know each time you smile,
Cry or shed those lonely tears,
Do they ever wish they could be right there,
Helping to make the hours and days go faster.
How many others have gone through loneliness,
The dark silent days and nights alone.
How many have wished night after night,
Upon that same star that shone so bright.
How many have cried themselves to sleep,
Curled up with that pillow for companion,
Awaiting for the familiar footsteps,
The voice that whisper those loving words.
We always long to hear.
Don’t cry little darling,
I’ll hold you close to my chest,
You’ll sleep well tonight little darling,
Close your eyes and gently rest.
 Wish upon the biggest star,
Soon I will return once more.
Never stop loving or wanting me,
For darling it is you I adore.
Between the lines I write to you,
I hope that you will know,
The love I hold deep in my heart,
Through my words I carefree show.

As I snuggle close to your chest,
