I like to think of me and my guitar as getting along pretty good together and when I travell I like to take old faithful with me. Nice to have special memories along the way of who we meet, what we do and how we do it.

My Old Friend & Me
08-02-2008
Written By: Rose Marie Rideout

I’ve travelled cross the countryside,
Lookin to fulfill my only dream of joy,
Holdin my old friend ever so gently,
My one true love, my faithful toy.

Come on evenin I was  kinda weary,
Lookin for a place to crash for a night,
There was this gentleman starin at me,
Said come with me, the price is right.

We followed him in the quiet of the night,
To a quaint little place he called home,
I showered and tucked myself into the bed,
To find my old friend and me weren’t alone.

He reminded me that the price was just right,
Asked if I’d play him just one tune,
Picked up my old friend and strummed a few chords,
As he stared out the window at the moon.

He said it wasn’t that long ago,
Since I held an old friend close to me,
Its been so long since I’ve had that joy,
Now it’s just a sad lost old memory.

I put my Old friend down by the bed,
Wandered over to comfort this guy,
I kissed him and stroked him and made him see,
How I could once again bring him that joy.

Years have passed since I wandered,
Cross the old countryside lookin for joy,
I soon found the place I belonged,
My old friend ,me and this guy.

Now you have stepped outside of the box with this write and it is special, you took the things you love, the places you've been and the people (or person you met) and wove them into a memory image in poetry that is captured now in time. I seem to remember that old friend and yea I too have one standing quietly beside me for whenever I need comfort or a smile. Hugs from down home on that long way back.

Dear Rose, You are so kind and write from the heart. It is so clear from your lovely write that there is no joy without the heart. I always say, happy are those who have a small corner for themselves, so they can think and write without being disturbed. Lucky are those who can sing for themselves, and lucky are those who can play an instrument.
You are so kind and your words are milk and honey. Love Emile

Quite a tribute to the love of music and attachment to one particular one. I can't get my son and his father away from theirs!
This was very well written, loved it a lot.
