Old Angry Bill swept through our Province and decided to take a few gifts with him along his way. Trees, grounds, electricity, and even tried to tak a hot tub but never succeeded.

Old Angry Bill
August 24, 2009
 Written by: Rose Marie Rideout

We knew that he was angry,
But what have we done so wrong,
We stayed within our safe home,
Where we knew we did belong.
We weren’t going to say a word,
To set him off again,
He seemed he wasn’t going to calm
In a rage he would remain.

He tried to take our Hot Tub
Thank God for His helping hand,
For Bill just could not budge it
In the bricks the bolts were jammed.
Then he raised his voice again
We heard something loud in the back,
We swear we felt the house move
We heard the sound of a crack.

We ran to see what Bill had done
He was angrier then before you see,
We thought we were safer to hide away,
So inside we thought that we should be.
Old Bill must have gotten tired,
Or wandered onto another town
Because it was only hours later,
He was no where to be found.

Oh yes he left his handprints,
And a footstep here and there,
He did a lot of damage,
Then left without a care.
We don’t know what made him angry,
For he never told us what was wrong,
We’re just thankful we are ok,
And now Old Bill is gone.

Rose, first off, I'm glad you and your family and, I hope, your new home are completely safe. You put these words together in a way to make us wonder how you, fortunately, escaped damage.
Great poem, my far northern friend, Mark

Great write sis, and yes old Bill was angry and we have the proof up here in Toronto. He worked hard and did his damage and I'm sure that he was proud as well. But thank God he wasn't stronger, or so much more would have fell.

Love you sis

Someone somewhere up there upset Old Bill and it gave you a scare, but good anchored people are very hard to uproot!
Be well and safe.

Thank God you're safe, Rose! And nooooooooooooo... not your hot tub!!!!???????????? It must have been all that wine and skinny-dipping that got his fever up! Brilliant personification here, Rose. Well-written and engrossing. Let's hope Bill has burned himself out and is now sleeping it off somewhere... xxx

How well you've described this Rose. A horrifing experience yet written in your gentle way. I can't imagine anything more terrifying. It makes the threats of our California earthquakes dim in comparison. Please stay safe.

Marcia

Rose, relieved that you and your family are safe. Since the season
is young, let's hope that Bill's brothers and sisters get lost at
sea. -gene.

Glad to hear you were okay in the hurricane, Rose. Very neat write about "Bill". We were okay here in New Brunswick...rain and some wind, but nothing serious.

Very glad to hear that you weathered the storm, Rose. I think Mother Nature is extremely mad at us human beings these days; she keeps sending out these messengers like Angry Bill.
