Those Pesty Hives
December 5, 2009
Written by: Rose Marie Rideout

Then sometimes late at night,
When our bodies refuse to sleep,
All over our body they appear,
Big hives seem to creep.
Itchy and red,
Just a plain irratation,
Keeping us awake for hours,
itching for the duration.

Where are those pills,
They are suppose to react,
Get rid of those hives,
quickly sending them back,
One hour, two & yes even three,
Those pesty big old hives,
Are still itching all over me.

They say that it’s canola,

That I’m alergic to,
But I know from my reactions,

There are more things then a few,
I know that another is shell fish,
Oh,oh maybe my homemade bread,
I know I had some hot from the oven,
Just before I went to bed.

Rose,
I sympathise, such an irritation, and yet you're able to write about it with eloquence and candour.

I doubt there's anything more irritatin (no pun intended) than hives. My favorite before-dinner drink when dining out is a gin martini. I'm allergic to the combination of gin and shell fish and have found out many people are. I always have Calamine lotion and Benadryl tablets on hand in case I should have two martinis, forget and order shell fish. I'm also allergic to cooked carrots but can eat them raw and do. Something about enzymes changing when they're cooked. Okay, enough rambling - really enjoyed your poem Rose even though I'm now having the itchies all over.

So sorry, Rosie. Hope you're feeling better today.

Ouch, Rose, hope you feel better. Don't think I've ever had hives, don't think I want them. But OMG, allergic to homemade bread?!? I'd. Just. DIE. LOL! One of my veryveryvery favorite things is homemade bread: I just can't bake worth a wah. LOL! I'm sorry, really, do hope you find relief. Well penned.

Don't know about that kind of pain but hope that out there is a medicine that can alleviate the illness. Making a poem about it is sharing the pain. Captain Morgan dark rum do wonders!!!

*OUCH* O, poor baby! I pray you get relief from those hives soon; they are NOT fun!! (Only had 'em twice: once when I was a little kid, and several years back. Don't want 'em a third time!!) Hope you feel better soon; you're ever in my prayers~

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
