Some people just refuse to accept when a relationship is over and try to cling to what once was. There is happiness out there for each and everyone of us. Let go of the past if the first step in finding it.
Just wanted to add that it took me seven years to let go of the past so I could move on to the future, thank God Fred was willing to wait for me or look at what i would have missed out on, a real life full of happiness.
Yes for some it is easier to say it then it is to do.

May never be again.
Let go of the past,
Why should you pretend.
Digging up pain ,
For what once was there,
Let go of the past,
He just doesn’t care.
Let go, let him rest in peace,
Find another, dreams do come true .
Let go of the past,
He no longer loves you.
Look at yourself,
You make your life dark and gray.
Let go of the past, Tomorrow’s a brand new day.
The sun will shine brightly,
The birds will sing again.
Let go of the past,
Start a new life my friend.
Walk away peacefully,
Wish him the best in each new day.
Let go of the past,
Go happily on your way.
It is not as easy as most think it is to forget what you went through with an ex. It leaves marks on your soul and heart and it takes time to heal these wounds. some never heal. Well done.

Our entire life is built on growing, changing and letting go. Each minute that passes by leaves a past behind us. When it comes to relationships, and there is nothing there left to hold onto except one's own emotions, then certainly is it time to let it go. One can never fully move on until they seperate their mindset from what is over and done with and they can no longer have.
Totally agree with JF below me, Rose, and I was about to say the same thing about the gentle and philosophical tone of this write. The biggest freedom we can grant ourselves starts on the inside with letting go and with an accepting forgiveness. So many need to let go and I guess there are also many who need to NOT live in denial. There is real agony in a relationship that is all but dead, and yet fear of moving on puts a termination on the hope of a better future for both parties... When it comes down to it, the "Better the Devil you know" adage is a very sad way to live out the gift of the one life we're given. Bless you for this. Your words are always a tonic and a balm. xx
It's not just the great advice, Rose, in this poem that attracts me but the way of expression...so positive and uplifting and not for a moment preachy or self-indulgent.
Truth, Rose! But letting go sure takes a lot of courage sometimes. However, there really is no place to go but forward, and the past tends to be a heavy load. WEll done, my friend!
