This poem was written back a few years ago. I remembered it today when I went with my 6 year old grandson for Chemo as I watched him screech please don't do it again, he cried so hard it tore me apart. This is a picture him, me and Poppy the night he was granted his wish. This is for all who are living with cancer.

They do it For You

Yes you're a mom or maybe a dad, 
A sister, brother or a friend.
Nanny or poppy they'll help
They'll hold your hand on tough days,,
They do it for you, family or friend
They'll fight to cure cancer until the end.

They'll walk through storms,
In the dark of the night,
Through the rough cold winds
and the nasty bugs that bite.
They do it for you, family or friend,
They'll fight to cure cancer until the end.

Cold, tired, damp and hungry
Arm in arm some with many tears,
With their memories and love.
Like soldiers they march on.
They do it for you, family or friend.
They'll fight to cure cancer until the end.

Some pitch tents in the damp and cold,
Taking naps but not for very long
They'll raise the money to help,
Educating others of the importance to help..
They do it for you, family or friend.
They'll fight to cure cancer until the end.

Fight, fight,fight for the right
The right to live cancer free.
I'll fight for you, you fight for me
We'll do it for all suffering.
We'll do it for family or friend.together,
 We'll fight to cure cancer until the bitter end

Hard to read. I hope he is still living with cancer. Here we have MD Anderson Hospital. Their slogan is "Making Cancer History." I believe you're writing about Make a Wish Foundation in this poem that gives kids with cancer a day to remember.

Back in 1995-98, I rode Metrolift with a psychiatrist who had spinal atrophy and was in a wheelchair like me. A few times, we rode with his nine year-old stepson who had leukemia and was taking chemo under his care as a doctor.

Unfortunately, the boy died and his mother had a breakdown it was in the hospital for six months.

Oh heck, that's a pain beyond pain to see the wee one fight.
My gosh he's 21-ish.
