If I don't write them down, they are gone forever. I'm sure many of you can relate to this.

I Always Forget Important Things
May 4, 2026
By Rose Marie Rideout

I can't seem to remember things,
I guess I am getting old.
Can't remember passrwords,
Or things that I've been told.

I wonder where I put that,
The important papers you see.
I was told to put them away,
So I'd remember where they'd be.

Can't remember the names,
Of people I've always known.
Their kids I don't know anymore,
My God, look at how they've grown.

Can't seem to remember places,
That I drove to day after day.
I try hard to see the signs,
So I don't get led astray.

I remembered how to play bingo,
My daughter took me there last night.
I had to play so many cards,
So many numbers, I almost lost sight.

I remember going into the room,
But I'm not sure of what for.
I thought I'd backtrack my steps,
But forgot as I went out the door.

Tell me, is this a part of aging?
Do we all forget as time goes by?
I'll have to exercise my brain,
So I'll remember, if I really try.

I am 100% with you on writing it down. It doesn’t get done otherwise!

Wonderful!

They tell me it's a part of aging. But I agree with you, it can be pretty annoying. The good news is, they also say that it's not a sure fire way of determining dementia or worse, Alzheimer's.

I never tried to remember things. But I was always organized and put things where I could find them. Even in my brain. But names are really getting hard for me to conjure up. It really interferes with conversation when I try to think of a name and can't.

I'm grateful for Internet searching and AI. Using it all the time now to find the names I want to use but can't remember.

Ron
