Searching for my place
In a life teeming
With uncertainty,
Pulled back and forth,
Confused by
Admonishments
To be this person
Or that.
Where does it leave me?
I am not,
I can not
Be anyone but
My individual,
Singular Self,
The one whom God created
As He saw fit.
I strive to be
The best me
I can be.
Why is that not
Enough,
And why does it matter
So much?
That is a good question. We all have to make our own self-esteem. We can't let others or circumstance bring us down. We must find a way to stay up and ready to meet whatever comes our way.
It is amazing that as the years go by we care less and less what others think and more and more listen to what we do and think. Great poem, that captures the human fraility and uncertainty of ego.
