I just cannot seem to sleep correctly.

Poem Artwork

Short nights make for long days
Nightmares, not rest, lead the way.
Cannot figure the difference or what’s right
When it should be short days, long nights.
Something in my brain is not functioning on keel
And the day drifts by no matter how I feel.
I have been on my knees asking for help to rest
And have pleasant dreams, but do my best
That part of prayer has not been answered

My mind does shut down at night
But only after taking what meds are right
Some work to relax my muscles
But I end up in a sort of tussle
When I don’t fall asleep right away
And find myself rising long before break of day.
I try especially not to nap during time of light
But find myself drifting off and I get up tight
Then cannot sleep when my head hits the bed.

Continue to do as I do
And hope there is rest soon without further ado.

Sometimes sleep habits cycle. Difficult to be awake all night long and still face a day at the job, but it happens. I gave up, sleep with the television on to have something to stimulate my mind every time I wake up. Tough delemma to be in......

Be safe,
Karen

I have those nights regularly. The mind just will not accept that it is time for bed. It will go away, try to hang in there!

I also have trouble sleeping. It is pain that keeps me up not so much my mind. I meditate and it helps me calm down but many times it does not help me sleep yes it makes me feel good and relaxed but it seems to not help with pain. I do hope you start to sleep better. I have sleep apnea so I have always dealt with sleep problems. I pray you get a good night sleep tonight.

When I am troubled sleep evades me and the days can be, as you say, very long. But once I resolve what is bothering me sleep once again returns.

methinks we all go through similar nights, especially if retired, like I am. Add to that different ills and meds etc it isn't easy to sleep the way we should. Don't stop yourself from napping if you don't get much sleep at night. It's good if you can.The thing at night is to shut the brain down if we can!;-) Keep praying!, I'll pray for you too!;-)

Throw the meds away and have yourself a good long walk and a bowl of cereal before you hit the hay...
I hate when this happens...you must have some underlying sandpaper in your life, rubbing you the wrong way...Hope you can obtain the Peace, you have asked for. Be more specific with Him and maybe it will all make sense...and He will bless you Soundly!
Love and Peace~
