I wrote this poem at the time I was working in a day care. I thought of the little children sharing their happy days of tricker treating with each other and in the neighborhood. I hope to cause people to see that a lot of good can come out of a holiday that many people try to tag only evil on.
It has been printed by the International Library of Poetry in a
publication called In Between Days.
HALLOWEEN
It's a dark and spooky sight
What you may see on a Halloween night.
All the little children walking down the street
Never know what's coming next, or who they might meet.
All dressed up in a funny looking suit,
Everyone that sees them say "they sure are looking cute."
Walking to each porch lit house,
They shout trick or treat as loud as a mouse.
Some are eager and a toddlin'
Around the corner another goblin.
Some are running hard and fast
To see their bag fill up at last.
Every treat on that special night
Brings out a hardy thank you light.
For in our children on Halloween night
Shines bright inside them a happy delight.
These goodies are given from the heart
To all the children so evil will part.
So now that dark and spooky night
Can be a bright and happy sight.
Tasked by his Goddess to find, relocate, and then quicken, the last three Heart Tree gem-seeds, Vanx the bard, and his motley crew of adventurers, set out to do just that.
