Suicide

An issue of great concern to people is one of suicide. Many people
have made a harsh and quick judgment when they hear the news of
someone accomplishing suicide. I see things quite differently now
that I have a child on the other side. In June 1998, I was doing
some condolence notes for some of my friends in my support
group. I had decided to become the condolence secretary for our
group and do this in memory of my son. As I was writing out some
of the cards early one morning, I became aware of some deaths
that occurred due to suicide. This was causing me quite a bit of
sorrow. As I sat there, thoughts came about and a message to
give to these parents that would bring a great deal of comfort to
them began to form on paper. Feeling both God and the presence
of my child, I proceeded to write Suicide.

SUICIDE

No matter how your child has died,
He's made it safely to the other side.
No matter what she did decide,
God's mercy and compassion are deep and wide.

Your loved one wanted a place to hide
And on this Earth not wanting to abide.
Anyone who says your child will not rise
Is fully wrong; you've been told lies.

All those tears your child had cried
Were stored up in a bottle where he now resides.
One thing your child did not realize,
That leaving this Earth so soon was not wise.

She did not see all the tears that you would cry.
He did not think about your saying, "why? Oh why?"
No matter what all the religions say,
That your child will not make it, no way.

There is something important to tell you today,
These very children have a message they want to relay
They are safe in a place of intensive care,
And again one day with you their love they will share.

Although things are not always as they appear,
In Heaven things are different than they are here.

One day in forever we'll all communicate
Our answers are coming we just have to wait.
In eternity you never are early or late
You'll forget all about that significant date.

God Almighty planned your child's birth.
He placed on that one a significant worth.
No matter how young or old,
Our children will walk the streets paved with gold.

People have limits on what's in the mind.
Never let them tell you your child's left behind.
We have a God who is infinite and kind;
A covenant to keep them with His blood He did sign.

There is not one person who knows them by heart.
From God's love they can't be separated or torn apart.
So rest if you must from all the religious views,
And look to the Maker of your child, this you can choose.

Thank you for the comfort I found in this poem. My son Matt made the choice to leave this world six months ago, Nov. 24th, 2002 at the age of 18. I truly believe that he found the peace that he couldn't find here. Thank you for your kindness. Julie S

I lost my son, Bo, Oct 8,2001. Your poem made me know what is in my heart. Bo could not be here anymore, so God took him to be with him, so he could be in peace. Thank you

I read your poem suicide, it brought tears to my eyes. My son, recently, Sept. 19, 2001 died from suicide. I have had horrible fears of where he is right now, I try to hold on to my beliefs that god would not leave my child behind, but some times it's hard. This poem reassured me that my Michael is in heaven.

Thanks

I absolutely agree and a friend years ago committed suicide and there was a prophecy to his twn brother and God spoke these words to him "Your name is written in the Lamb's book of life, next to your brother's"

I think that God spoke to Brian to assure him that his brother made it. Thanks again. Janet
